When the romance of the Venetian canals meets the legendary harbour of Hong Kong, a unique spark of creativity is ignited. Italian watch brand Venezianico and prominent Cantonese-speaking watch media Horoverse have once again joined hands to unveil the Redentore HK Limited Edition, composing a symphony of time that spans East and West with masterful artistry.

A dialogue between two waterfront cities

“Growing up in Venice, a city surrounded by water, I have always felt a special connection with Hong Kong,” says Alberto Morelli, founder of Venezianico. “Venice and Hong Kong share a similar spirit — both are deeply rooted in water, and both thrive around their harbours. Water is not only a defining feature of the city, but also a profound cultural symbol that inspired this creation.”  

Morelli added that after multiple visits to Hong Kong and walks along the Victoria Harbour waterfront, he became deeply fascinated by the city’s distinctive charm. “I wanted to create a dialogue through the art of horology, expressing the connection between these two waterfront cities and bringing together Venezianico’s craftsmanship and the maritime legend of Hong Kong.”

With junk boats as inspiration, a watch records Hong Kong memories

After months of archival research and field visits, the design focus was settled on the oldest Chinese junk boat in Hong Kong — the “Dukling.” This vessel, which has witnessed almost a century of Hong Kong’s history, is an epic in its own right:  from its days as a fishing vessel to its role in promoting tourism, surviving sinking and restoration like a phoenix reborn, perfectly embodying Hong Kong’s resilient spirit. 

Reinterpreting the history of Hong Kong through the dial

The new Redentore HK Limited Edition is created by Venezianico, in collaboration with Horoverse, as a heartfelt tribute to Hong Kong through the lens of design. Every detail blends multiple design elements, resulting in a piece that feels like a finely crafted miniature chronicle of Hong Kong’s history.

• Background narrative: The dial features an early colonial Hong Kong map, with delicate lines flowing like water. The winding lines of the coastline recreate the original silhouette of Victoria Harbour, inviting the wearer to hear the echoes of history. 

• Sailing focal point: On the left side of the dial, a three-dimensional metallic relief the Dukling, handcrafted and finished by artisans, appears to glide across the sea. With its sails slightly unfurled, with exquisitely rendered details, as if breaking through the waves and surging forward with energy.

• Play of light: The off-center dial on the right side is crafted from natural mother-of-pearl. As the wrist moves, the rainbow-like sheen shifts in changing light, echoing the movement of the hands and embodying a refined balance of precision and artistry. 

Three Editions, Three Hong Kong Sentiments
To perfectly capture the multifaceted charm and spirit of the city, the new timepiece is presented in three distinct models, each carrying a profound meaning:

• The Tide (浪濤): Symbolizing the ocean and vitality. It represents breaking through the waves and moving forward courageously, perfectly capturing the spirit of Hong Kong people adapting and striving through changing times.

• The Shore (泊岸): Symbolizing the land and heritage. It serves as a reminder that no matter how far a ship sails, the steadfast land is always the warm harbour for spiritual settlement and the ultimate homecoming.

• The Soul (赤誠) - Nightfall Special Edition: The striking contrast of black and red represents the deepest layer of this legendary Eastern city under the night sky—the resilient, pure, and unyielding soul of its people. Notably, this Nightfall Special Edition is strictly limited to only 10 pieces worldwide. As Venezianico has never before released an ultra-limited edition of just 10 pieces, this unprecedented rarity makes it an incredibly precious masterpiece with exceptional historical and collectible value.

A tribute to heritage at case back

Flipping the watch over reveals another meticulously crafted scene: the legendary Dukling sails alongside the Star Ferry, an icon of Hong Kong’s century-old ferry culture. They are set against the backdrop of historic, now-demolished Old Central Star Ferry Pier. This meticulously restored architectural silhouette is not only a tribute to the Dukling’s glorious past but also a profound nod to the partnership between Venezianico and Horoverse, expressing the continuity and evolution of this partnership.
