Utopia Reimagined

The Second Chapter

“The first Utopia marked the beginning of a journey, with a movement designed and produced in Italy at its core. With Utopia II, we chose not to simply repeat that achievement, but to push the project further, evolving the calibre and refining the craftsmanship that defines the watch as a whole, from its mechanics to its dial.”
Alberto and Alessandro Morelli

Redentore Utopia II Limited Edition

Key features

One Utopia, two interpretations

The chromatic choice of this limited edition is rooted in the material and historical identity of the city of Venice. Gold recalls the light of stuccoes and mosaics, the reflection of a refined decorative tradition capable of turning architecture into narrative. The graphite tone, deeper and more tactile, instead refers to the craftsmanship of wrought iron that defines the city’s more functional side, from street lamps and gates to the structural elements of boat hulls. Two complementary colours, expressing a culture able to unite elegance and labour, beauty and function, refinement and a deeply industrious spirit.

Key features

The ancient art of guilloché

For the creation of the dials, we relied on one of the very few remaining workshops still capable of practising traditional guilloché in its most authentic form. A rare craft, preserved by a handful of masters and historic machines operated entirely by hand, where each engraving is the result of a slow, precise and irreversible gesture. Line after line, micron after micron, the metal is sculpted without any possibility of correction, in a constant dialogue between hand, material and light. The result is not a mere decoration, but a living, deep surface that changes with the angle of observation and makes every dial unique.

Key features

A New Mechanical Identity

This second chapter also introduces mechanical evolutions, and it is precisely from this desire for deeper exploration that the V5001 was born. Developed from the experience of the V5000, it preserves its architecture, reliability and performance, while introducing a higher level of care in finishing and overall legibility, together with a 24k gold galvanic treatment that enhances its aesthetic presence.

Cal V5001

The V5001 is the evolution of the V5000, retaining its technical architecture while introducing a superior level of finishing. Designed and manufactured entirely in Italy, it offers a 60-hour power reserve within just 3.5 mm of thickness, with accuracy regulated to ±3 seconds per day. It introduces double-spiral wheels and bridges and mainplate finished with 24k gold galvanic plating, complemented by radial Côtes de Genève and fine perlage. Conceived for long-term stability, it features a variable-inertia copper-beryllium balance with four masselottes, a double-anchored balance bridge, and KIF Elastor shock protection.

The Culture of Finishing

The movement’s decorations are executed with an artisanal approach that remains functional to mechanical legibility. The upper bridges feature radial Côtes de Genève, enhanced by polished anglage along the edges, while the mainplate is finished with hand-executed micro-perlage, visible in the open areas. The wheels adopt a double-spiral finishing that adds visual depth to the gear train, while the balance bridge is characterised by horizontal étirage, emphasising its structural and technical role within the movement.

Variable Inertia Balance Wheel

Crafted by Atokalpa from a copper-beryllium alloy, this balance wheel is regulated using four masselottes — small peripheral weights that allow the inertia to be adjusted without changing the active length of the hairspring. Compared to traditional balance wheels with a regulator index, the variable inertia system enables more precise and stable regulation over time, minimizing the impact of shocks or positional changes on the watch’s accuracy. This type of balance wheel is typical of haute horlogerie, where long-term chronometric performance is a top priority.

60-Hour Power Reserve

Carefully engineered to balance efficiency and practicality, the V5001 is featured by a 60-hours power reserve — well above the average for mechanical movements. This relevant interval allows the watch to maintain stable and accurate timekeeping even after several days of rest, eliminating the need for unnecessary adjustments or winding. It’s a power reserve designed to naturally adapt to different wearing habits, whether used daily or rotated with other timepieces, always ensuring readiness and consistent performance.

KIF Elastor Antishock System

KIF Parechoc is a Swiss company specializing in shock protection systems for mechanical movements. In V5001 caliber, we use the KIF Elastor, designed to safeguard the balance against sudden impacts. A star-shaped helical spring, placed around the jewel setting, absorbs the shock’s energy and get back the balance wheel to its optimal position. This compact system offers greater precision and stability compared to simpler alternatives, enhancing the movement’s durability even under dynamic conditions.

Split Gear Train

In this system, the transmission of motion is divided into two separate branches: one dedicated to the seconds, the other to hours and minutes. This mechanical separation reduces interference between the gear trains, preventing the continuous motion of the seconds hand from affecting the consistency of the main timekeeping system. The result is greater running stability and more reliable long-term accuracy. A refined approach to movement construction, designed with precision as its highest priority.

Linda Renzetti

Trained within her family workshop, where the art of guilloché has been passed down through generations, Linda Renzetti is the daughter of Andrea Renzetti, author of the dial of the first Redentore Utopia. Today, she is one of the very few artisans still able to practise this technique according to historical methods, working on 19th-century lathes operated entirely by hand, requiring absolute control, experience and a deep understanding of the material. While respecting a rigorous tradition, her approach introduces a freer, more artistic sensitivity, where guilloché is not seen as simple decoration, but as a process of surface construction. Every line is final, every gesture irreversible, and the result reflects a personal balance between technical discipline and creative expression.

“WE SHAPED THE MOVEMENT OF WATER”

The idea behind the engraved pattern originates from the observation of the tide and from the bond with the lagoon territory, where water and light continuously transform the perception of surfaces. From this inspiration emerges a pattern conceived not as ornament, but as a material translation of a natural phenomenon. The design is first developed on paper and refined through an extensive experimental phase on large aluminium plates, before final testing on full-scale brass discs, necessary to achieve the balance between engraving, polished surface and visual depth.

The Next Expression of Utopia

Following strong demand from our community, we dedicated ourselves to refining a second chapter alongside some of the finest Made in Italy artisans, developing a project where movement, materials and hand-crafted details come together in two limited-edition pieces.
